![]() Geogreen Take Minority Share Rueil-Malmaison (June 29, 2010) – PRESS RELEASE – Aiming to facilitate ArcelorMittal’s efforts to fight climate change and within the framework of the European ULCOS II programme (Ultra–Low Carbon dioxide Steelmaking), Geogreen has acquired a minority equity share of ArcelorMittal GeoLorraine, which has recently filed an exploration permit application for the research of suitable geological storage areas. Along with its share in ArcelorMittal GeoLorraine, Geogreen has been awarded a position on its Board of Directors and a representative from Geogreen will serve as the Deputy General Manager. The objective of this report will be to inform the G8 members states as to the progress, roadblocks, and next steps needed for achieving gloabl CCS technology deployment goals. ![]() Exploration Permit Filed Florange (June 11, 2010) - Geogreen has worked closely with ArcelorMittal on filing an exploration permit for the ULCOS (Ultra–Low Carbon dioxide Steelmaking) project in northeastern France. "With a view to contribute to the efforts to fight climate change, ArcelorMittal pursues the preparation of its carbon dioxide (CO2) capture, transport and storage project in the Lorraine region by filing a research permit request for the geological storage of CO2. This project is launched in the framework of the European ULCOS programme." ![]() US CCS Conference Pittsburgh (May 5-7, 2010) - Cameron McQuale, in charge of Geogreen's business development operations for North America, attended the DOE-NETL 9th Annual Conference on Carbon Capture and Sequestration where he presented on Geogreen's work on a Bio-CCS feasibility study. The study, performed with BRGM, CNRS, and the University of Orleans in France, examined various scenarios for capturing, tranporting, and storing CO2 from the Artenay sugar beet biofuel refinery in central France. ![]() Commissioned CCS Study The International Energy Agency Greenhouse Gas R & D Programme (IEA GHG) on behalf of the Global CCS Institute (GCCSI) has requested an external review of the development recommendations in the IEA's CCS Roadmap (based on the Blue Map Scenario) for 2020 and beyond. The IEA Blue Map scenario defines energy technology mix target up to 2050 that should lead to a global warming below 2°C. The study that Geogreen shall perform is aimed at identifying a way forward for policymakers in accordance with this CCS development objective. ![]() CCS Strategy for Saudi Arabia ![]() European Funded R&D Project Brussels (December 8, 2009) - Geogreen is proud to be part of the soon to be launched European FP7-funded research project: COCATE. The final approval is in the process of being signed and the project will commence in January. The COCATE project aims to determine the kinds of planning, engineering, and financing issues a roll-out of a shared industrial CO2 transportation network capable of connecting geological storage sites with various small-to-medium industrial emitters located within a close geographical proximity would involve. ![]() CCS Development Outlook Paris (November 26, 2009) - The French newspaper, L'Usine Nouvelle, quoted Gilles Munier in article called "CO2 Capture and Storage Going Industrial." “‘Things are moving quickly now, especially in Europe - faster even than I could have imaged,’ explains Gilles Munier, the CEO of an engineering firm named Geogreen, which is specialized in these sorts of questions [concerning CCS]. ‘In order for the industrial development of carbon capture and storage of CO2 to become a reality, there needs to be more focus on potential funding mechanisms and a consistent international regulation should be put into place.’” ![]() CCS Study Rueil Malmaison (September 16, 2009) - Geogreen will perform a CCS feasibility study and site screening in order to identify a potential geological CO2 storage location for a major European power producer. ![]() CCS "Capture Ready" Study Rybnik (August 1, 2009) - Geogreen will perform a "capture (transport & storage) ready" study for Elektrownia Rybnik S.A. in Poland. On top of specifics issues linked to CO2 capture unit implementation on a power plant site, the "capture ready" concept aims at identifying one or more potential storage site as well as associated CO2 transport scenarios (transport and storage techno-economic feasibility study). |
